Reflections on the Provincial meeting of the Five Star Movement of Palermo on 17 September 2023.

On the Provincial Meeting of the Five Star Movement of Palermo, it is necessary to reflect on a long-awaited event in the area, which has just concluded. Questions that emerged after deep analysis and reflection.
- Will the Territorial Groups be tools managed by activists or will they be tools led by spokespersons?
- Why are we not allowed to participate in decisions such as the number of Groups and their distribution in the territory?
- Why, if there are three hundred members of the Groups in Palermo, did they decide to set up only three out of one hundred?

We come from an experience in which we were even asked whether we should participate in a government or avoid it, and now we find ourselves shelved in a corner to suffer decisions from above without having the slightest possibility of participating in the political and organizational structuring of the Groups. The only thing allowed is participation in the thematic tables that have already been prepared and set up, without any consideration for those who are not aware of the details.
I understand that any addition will be listened to, but can it ever be followed up if the proposal comes from a single member?

In September 2010, I joined a free movement, certainly in need of rules, but I didn't expect to find myself in a top-down structure, unwilling to share, not very transparent and not very participatory, except in words.

These are personal reflections that emerge spontaneously and are in no way intended to undermine the credibility of our spokespersons, whom I admire and many of whom I count among my dearest friends.
I apologize if I'm being honest, but it's my biggest flaw.
Beyond any attempt to delegitimize our regional and provincial leaders, I cannot find a logical answer when I ask myself: why have their positions not been legitimized by the vote of the members? This would certainly have strengthened and consolidated their functions. The same names proposed by our President and then by our Regional Manager would certainly have been confirmed, thus consolidating their credibility.
It would appear that subsequent appointments are made using the same methods.
I do not have the credibility and power to ask for methods to be changed, but I am certainly given the freedom to ask for greater participation, sharing and transparency.

A newspaper run by citizens for citizens, against false news and for independent information.

We are simple citizens, not journalists, and we do not aspire to be. It will be our duty to listen carefully to the voices coming from the territories and testify, thus denouncing the difficulties and suffering that afflict those who are deprived of representation.

It will be our commitment to remain vigilant and denounce any violation of the fundamental rights of life. We aim to act as amplifiers for the cries of protest suffocated by information subjected to the new masters.
